Join  Dublin Says No Week 58 marching against AUSTERITY

Dublin Says No…We are the ordinary people of Ireland. We have taken it upon ourselves to march weekly in solidarity with many other communities across the country, in order to show the Government of Ireland that we ‘The People’ will resist.

We will resist Austerity.
We will resist Bank Bail-Outs.
We will resist Natural Resources sell-Offs.
We will resist Media Bias.
We will resist Government & Banking Corruption, Incompetence, Nepotism, Greed, Lies, Miss-Management, Political Elitism.

We want a better future for ourselves, our children, grandchildren…
We want a new political system – by the people, for the people.

We encourage anyone and everyone, no matter what your own political views are, to join us.
We each have our own political views and we each have our own visions of what the future Ireland should look like.
What we all do have in common is the fact that we want ‘change’, a change that will benefit all of us.
All we ask is that NO political banners/flags etc are carried – this is a ‘Peoples’ march.

We meet at The Central Bank, Dame St, Dublin at 12:00…each and every Sunday. Please join us.

December 2013

Dear friends,

There are some events taking place in the coming weeks to try to advance the building of our movement for democracy, if you can support these it would help.  In particular, we are asking people from county Cork as well as from Waterford, Tipperary and Kerry to join with us on Saturday 14th, to mark the Troika’s departure on the 15th.

Note that the events are hosted by The People’s Convention, everyone welcome, however no Political Party banners or promotions are welcome, we ask participants to focus on the subject matter of the events and to leave aside any promotion of personal philosophy or ‘ism’ – in the interests of achieving the broadest possible unity.

COMMUNITY MEETINGS: “The Alternative to Political Parties”, meetings to encourage the selection of People’s Candidates in our local communities. WED. 4TH December  7:45pm – The Community Centre – Mahon – Cork city. THUR. 5th December 7:45pm – The SMA Parish Hall, Wilton – Cork city.

(We have already held such a meeting in Gurranabraher and intend to bring it to every Local Electoral Area possible, anyone interested in county Cork or elsewhere should make contact with us)

“The ‘Bailout’ was for Banks! We have been sold-out, again!” SATURDAY 14th December – meet at Opera House, Cork at 2pm, march to a Rally on Patrick’s Street.

Condemn additional cuts to community services and the furthering their Gravy Train! MONDAY 16th December – meet at Peace Park on South Mall, Cork, 6pm, March to Rally at City Hall – the Council are meeting to pass the budget for 2014 and we need to have our say!

Finally, a reminder that we have weekly discussion meetings at Ionad an Phobail (Resource Centre), 99 Douglas Street, Cork and you are encouraged to attend.  We have a busy programme up to end of year and expect significant development in 2014, including during the elections in May.

We encourage you to be active, talk to us to explore the possibilities,

Your sincerely,

PEOPLE’S ASSEMBLY
BUDGET 2014 PROTEST
Daunt’s Square Cork
Saturday October 19th 3pm

The budget for 2014 will take yet another €2.5 billion out of the economy, at a rate of two to one in favour of cuts over taxation. This will affect health, education, social protection and community services. It will not create one new job.
Alternative sources of revenue exist:
Remove the tax loopholes and ensure the multinationals pay corporation tax in full
Impose a special tax rate on salaries over €100,000.
Identify and tax all offshore accounts.
Use the financial relief of the promissory note deal.
The government have promised large scale job creation schemes but little has been done.
Thousands are burdened with insurmountable debts on their homes and the threat of eviction hovers over many.

Barn Bugs and Wags 2013. October 26th and 27th.

Sorry we are so late this year in putting something up. Making preparations for the 4th Annual Barn, Bugs, and Wags. It will be on October 26th and 27th at VW Spares in Castledermot. This is a bank holiday weekend so you will have Monday to recover!

Once again, the event will kick-off on Saturday (arrive after 4pm) and will finish up with prize giving around 4 pm Sunday. We’ll be holding the event again this year in the indoor riding area next to VW Spares so you’re welcome to ‘camp’ in your van or a tent overnight indoors.  Their will be an abundance of Tea and Coffee provided, a BBQ on Saturday night with burgers and sausages, and if you want to bring any food for yourself to cook on the BBQ please do. We’ll also have some food on the Sunday but we’re still negotiating on this. Might be a Pig on a spit or a BBQ. As it’s Halloween weekend, we’ll be expecting some rare characters to turn up and we’ll be hoping to see some impressive pumpkin lanterns.

This year we’ll have trophies for Best Early Beetle/Ghia (pre 1967), Best Beetle/Ghia (post 1967), Best Bus, and People’s Choice Award. We’re also adding a new category for Water-cooled this year due to the popular rise of the T25 and T4.  If Eircooled could produce one of their trophies that would be great (i.e. if Brian has any Pistons left over). Going to have some prizes this year, nothing fancy a few hoodies and vouchers and anything I can scrounge..

(There will be a special prize this year of a VW Spares hoodie for the best Silver Mexican beetle registered as a 70’S……)

Would Eircooled like to bring a Store down to sell merchandise or membership applications?
If anyone wants to bring down some bits to sell please do.

Need some entertainment, I don’t think Brian is in the music business anymore so if anyone has a DJ set up and would like to offer their services for Saturday night for a few hours that would be great. It’s basically to keep a few drunken people on a dance floor.  Will provide a heater just in case its a little nippy.

Unfortunately we wont have a drag strip available, however we did think about burn outs in the sand and the biggest hole created wins…

If you would like any parts ordering to collect at the show please phone me on 0866038449 or e-mail me at sales@vwspares.ie.

Once again any suggestions are gratefully received.

Many thanks
Jon
