The Poor can’t pay

These two Videos were sent to me to -day and are a powerful reminder of the real tragedy that so many of our people are going through as a result of the current economic crises

We must make sure that the venerable are not made the scapegoats for the mishandling of the economy by the political elite of this country  .

Electricity price hike

TDs have slated a 5 per cent increase in electricity prices due to take effect next month.

Members of the Oireachtas Committee on Economic Regulatory Affairs were particularly critical of the energy regulator for its role in sanctioning the increase in energy prices for domestic consumers.

However, the Commission for Energy Regulation, whose representatives appeared before the committee today, said the 4.9 per cent increase from October 1st was entirely due to a levy introduced by the Government to secure the country’s security of energy supply and develop the renewable energy sector. Earlier, Wicklow TD Joe Behan said the vast majority of people were appalled at the increase. “There is widespread and deeply held anger among householders and business people, who cannot understand that an organ of state can conspire to increase charges when we are living through the worst recession in living memory.”

Mr Behan said consumers were caught in a catch 22 situation; when energy prices rose, they paid more, but when energy prices fell, the PSO levy went up.

He called on the regulator to postpone the increase.

His comments came as the commission formally approved the proposal by ESB Customer Supply to keep charges at their current level. This means that that tariffs will rise by €2.73 per customer per month, the amount of the levy to be imposed from October 1st.

The levy is being introduced to cover the cost of buying electricity from less efficient peat-fuelled stations and to develop renewable and sustainable sources of electricity.

what are these concerned pampered blood suckers doing about the unemployment  Nothing !

Again we are witness to a fine example of crocodile tears from our well pampered TD, s who won’t have to pay these increases from their own pockets as we the taxpayers will have to cough up that for them and note we are getting ever so close to a general election and the Boys and  Gals  are getting worried perhaps?

The “outcry” from the TD, s must be taken with a pinch of salt as everybody knows that the greens are really behind this latest stealth tax and I expect there are many more of these smash and grab taxes on the way

I call on the next government to repeal every one of the green initiatives and tax hikes since they came into government

What chance of this ever happening?

What if this oil spill was off the coast of Ireland?

If this had happened in Irish waters the Government would have told the nation that we were all responsible and we must all put our shoulder to the wheel and help stop this well from leaking any more of our precious oil .They would also blame the single mothers and the Unemployed for using up badly needed financial resources that would otherwise be spent plugging the well.

A call for a national bond would be made and everyone in the work would be made pay a new oil cleanup carbon tax levy and the Unions would tell the members that we have no choice as this is the only option for the country

Gormley would employ a few green pals to count all the dead fish and Ryan would call for a national day of mourning .Brian lenihan would go on national TV to tell us we must tighten out collative belts yet another two notches!
Bertie Ahern would look for another “Dig out” from his pals to help pay his levy!
Having got it he would then seek an exemption from the revenue on the grounds he was a struggling artist!
The Government would then blame the protesters of shell to sea for the disaster and have them all thrown into jail!

Fresh thinking needed to cut growing dole queues

Comment on David Mc Williams latest posting on his blog http://www.davidmcwilliams.ie/2010/03/10/fresh-thinking-needed-to-cut-growing-dole-queues

I would like to point out one flaw in your posting (FAS.  WPP )(Work placement program)

“FAS has a scheme where young graduates can join companies for up to nine months to gain work experience on no pay, but they retain their unemployment benefits. This scheme should not be limited to young people. It should be open to all the unemployed.

Retraining is what is needed here and it can be done at a fraction of the cost by unleashing this programme to make it as open as possible. For instance, the scheme is restricted to companies of between 10 and 20 employees, which can hire only two additional staff on this basis. If the company can take on five people instead of two, why hold it back?

The Flaw is at the moment there are about 35 thousand (at least) previous (Self-employed persons)

Who are not in receipt of the Dole (jobs-seekers allowance) and if they were to take up this scheme they would be expected to work in these companies for nothing!

Don’t you think they should at least they should get the equivalent of the jobseekers allowance?

calamity Mary takes a vow

according to the press association Tanaiste Mary Coughlan (calamity Mary )has vowed to deliver on plans to create more than 100,000 new jobs from foreign investors. IDA Ireland aims to lure hundreds of overseas firms over the next four years, with more than half to be based outside Dublin and Cork. The target was included in an estimate by Fas and the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) that 250,000 extra jobs would be generated by 2015.

Now that is 20,000 jobs a year for the next 5 years right? Calamity wants to deliver, wrong!

What will happens is this, 65,000people will emigrate

Plus we already have 500,000 now unemployed and in 5 years time we will have a minimum of another 250,000 jobs going from these shores

Of 50,000 new workers coming from the various educational instustions every year with no jobs to go to and with the economy contracting because of the credit crunch that will have to continue at least for the next 10 years.

I can’t see what difference this promise will make. When the last time a politician’s promise was was actually delivered on?

Never baring in mind this minster sat back and allowed 800 jobs disappear that we know of!

Cuts at the national training budget at FAS, (and I have personally experienced this).

Ever since she became minster two and a half years ago, we still have no jobs stimulus and the unemployed are thrown on the scrapheap

This is the last person we should rely on to kick start the jobs market!

we want action on Jobs now and not empty promises!

it’s time for the unemployed to unite under one banner and create  a union for the unemployed

get up and take action to-day!

Work Placement Program Follow Up

Work Placement Program Follow up.

No Pay for the Unemployed

Following up from my morning’s letter to you I now discover, senior civil servants will not bear the full brunt of the promised cuts that were announced around the last Budget by the Minister

These servants of the people will get to keep up to 14 thousand euro, how many more FAS courses could be created with this money?

How can you now justify these new adjustments robbing the unemployed of a wage for a solid days work?

The Unemployed will not just sit down and be walked all over in this manor!

We want jobs and emergency up skilling measures now not rhetoric!

Irish electricians Strike 2

This video doesn’t exist

With these kind of threats coming from a Union Boss

It’s hard to see the general public supporting this electricians Strike

There are thousands of  fellow electricians without a job, and asking the public to pay higher rates in these times of hardship is just bonkers!

If they are owed money they should get it, but demanding more, that’s another story

The union Boss would be better off demanding from the Government immediate retraining and up-skilling grants for the unemployed otherwise a lot more of his union breather will be joining me on the dole queue

and what good will that do ?
