an excellent article ! Thank you

(This is a tribute to Michael Collins on the 92nd anniversary of his death and a speculation of what he might do if he were leader of Ireland today. It is a little long for the casual reader but the author hopes it stimulates discussion and debate as we try to find a way out of tyrannical governance towards a more equitable and benevolent way of living in this great land of wealth and abundance.)

“But we are led by the least among us – the least intelligent, the least noble,

the least visionary. We are led by the least among us and we do not fight…”

Ireland’s last three ‘leaders’, Kenny, Cowen, and Ahern, have steered the country into an abyss of desolation, debt slavery, and unpardonable loss of sovereignty. They have delivered the Irish people into poverty and…

The Mansanto prick!

Patrick Moore is a former Greenpeace president who has since gone on to become a supporter of the highly controversial genetically modified foods.

Moore has specifically been promoting the dangerously untested and risky “Golden Rice” in the media.

But recently, he was called out in the French media after boasting that he could drink a glass of glyphosate and not be harmed.

Used currently as the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup, glyphosate actually was just declared a “probably human carcinogen” by the World Health Organization. But Moore apparently doesn’t think it’s dangerous to human health according to the clip below in the French media.

“You can drink a whole quart (of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup) of it and it won’t hurt you,” Moore boasts (see clip below courtesy of our friends at the Organic & Non-GMO Report) before backtracking.

The host surprises Moore and challenges him to live up to his word, and to take a drink. His reaction shows just how full of hot air he really was

MAKING HAY WHILE THE SUN SHINES SUPPORTERS, SPLITTERS & SPIN DOCTORS

By Pol Ó Muireadhaigh

The sun shone down on Dublin last Saturday and crowds certainly turned out in huge numbers, Bus and train loads of water warriors arrived from all corners of the country to stand side by side and send a clear message to the government and their lackeys in Irish Water “We are NOT going away and we are not being placated by the crumbs from Enda and Joan’s table nor will we be scared off by the heavy handed actions of our supposedly independent judiciary. The Message from the main R2W stage was one of encouragement, Solidarity and above all UNITY among all the stakeholders in this protest movement. It was with more than a little surprise and confusion that I arrived home to the news that Socialist Party TD. Ruth Coppinger, Mega Phone in hand, had held court at the Daniel O’Connell monument and, in the words of Her Party Leader Joe Higgins on Twitter, Called for a NEW Movement a movement that would exclude Right 2 Water and see the AAA/SP at the forefront pulling the strings, OK so while only the most naive would still claim that this is a peoples movement and is not political and I fully realise that ALL of the parties involved are on an Election footing as February 2016 looms large on the horizon, however surely any attempt to split the protest at this stage only weakens us and sow confusion, just to further muddy the The Non-Payment network, of which the SP/AAA are BIG players have called for a “Bin The Bill” protest on the 18th of April which just happens to be the same day that he rest of Europe will march against the TTIP trade agreement. Unfortunate timing or a deliberate attempt to piggy-back on the growing anti-TTIP sentiment sweeping Europe in recent times?, the jury is still out.

We won’t Pay again for Water!

The people of Ireland again came out in their tens of thousands today to again tell our corrupt government we will not pay again for water: We are demanding that the guano “Irish Water be abolished” a forensic investigation will be set up on the setting up of this guano and that all contracts will be reviewed and all unlawful actions from all involved be brought to light and the corrupt persons be stripped of their ill-gotten gains this must also include all corrupt politicians who were involved: We will not pay these toxic demands for our own water and our human right!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! The peoples patience is wearing out!

TTIP

Dear thomas,

It’s the most dangerous trade deal ever to be negotiated between the EU and US, its called TTIP and so far it’s being actively supported by the Irish government. This trade deal is bad news. It threatens to seriously undermine Irish economic sovereignty and democracy in favour of corporate power.

But the European Commissioner, Cecilia Malmstrom, whose job it is to negotiate on Trade, is rattled. She’s coming to Ireland to bolster the Irish government in the face of growing opposition to the deal.

Can you sign this open letter telling Commissioner Malmstrom that TTIP is nothing more than a corporate power grab and is not supported by Irish people. If enough of us sign it, both she and the Irish government will get the message that there is huge opposition to TTIP here in Ireland. It will take just a minute.

Here is the link: https://uplift.ie/say-no-to-ttip/

Big tobacco companies are already threatening to sue the Irish Government over plain cigarette packaging legislation. This is only the beginning of what’s ahead if TTIP is agreed. Multinational companies will not only be able to sue our government in secret courts, they will also have a say in how policy is designed. Our rights at greatest risk are public health, workers rights, consumer rights, food safety regulations and environmental protections.

Malmstrom’s visit is happening at a crucial moment. Resistance to TTIP has been rapidly growing in Ireland and across the EU, and we can already see the pressure is beginning to work. The government is getting increasingly nervous and are starting to change the way they’re talking about TTIP, using ‘softer’ language.

The big multinational corporations have huge lobbying power. But we can send a strong message to Malmstrom and the Irish government with people power. They can no longer hide behind false promises of ‘jobs and growth’! And the bigger the fuss we make, the more we can help the huge EU wide effort to stop TTIP. Please can you help make the open letter huge?

Allegations of police brutality made by Dr Richard O’Flaherty

The allegations of police brutality made by Dr Richard O’Flaherty will  shock and appal people.

Claims that a Special Needs boy was stripped naked and whipped with his own belt are absolutely stomach-churning.

Equally disturbing is Dr O’Flaherty’s story about a diabetic woman who went into a coma after she was denied medication in custody.

It’s claimed that woman is now in a vegetative state in a care home in Limerick.

Dr Richard O’Flaherty

The allegations come after several major scandals have rocked the force to its core – but these claims are by far the most disturbing to date.

They describe a kind of police brutality many people would not believe existed in a functioning democracy.

The horrific abuses described are the kind of horror stories that we expect to hear from somewhere like Iraq but never dreamed could happen here.

It’s utterly unacceptable that the Oireachtas Justice Committee chairman David Stanton refused to allow Dr O’Flaherty to fully outline his shocking case.

Mr Stanton said the aim of the meeting was to focus on garda reforms but what can be more important than getting to the bottom of these allegations?

These claims cannot be simply swept under the carpet.

The doctor said he sent pictures of injuries sustained by people while in garda custody to former Justice Minister Alan Shatter.

We need to find out if he took any action on foot of such serious allegations.

An independent inquiry must be launched and any garda involved in such brutality must face the full rigours of the law.
