Gamekeepers turned poachers

Here are some internal Dept of Finance documents on the move of a senior civil servant from the Department of Finance to Bank of Ireland.

Michael Torpey, who was employed on a salary of €200,000-plus annually, was transferred to the NTMA for three months and told not to work in his area of expertise – as part of a ‘cooling off period’.

He was asked not to return to his desk after Christmas because he had agreed to take a job in Bank of Ireland and was instead dispatched to the National Treasury Management Agency where, despite being an expert in banking, he was forbidden from working on any matter relating to it. Mr Torpey had been a key figure in the Department of Finance’s work on the restructuring of banks before being poached by Bank of Ireland late last year. He was due to begin work at the bank this month……………………………

ITALY CRISIS: Read Letta’s lips, BamB austerity is over

The Slog

enricolipsptFrom the moment he was ‘chosen’ (rather than elected) Enrico Letta (left) made it clear: no more austerity for Italy. Just in case anyone in Brussels-am-Berlin might be hard of hearing, yesterday in the Italian assemby, Signor Letta gave everyone a watch-my-lips moment: austerity is dead, time to change course. Despite troll propaganda to the contrary, I’ve been saying for nearly a year now that events in ClubMed and then opposition at home will lead to Germany leaving the euro before Greece does. Yesterday, Enrico Letta turned that strong likelihood into a near-certainty.

The balance of power in the EU changed the minute Francois Hollande was elected President of France. Last week, a suitably well-timed leak from Hollande’s Parti Socialiste berated “German austerity” and the “egoistic intransigence of Mrs Merkel”. For the last six months, Spain has been poking the eurocrats  in the eye, and deriding the output of Olli…

Bail In………..you have been warned…..

Here in Ireland we have already been conned as we saddled with worthless real-estate the banks hyped up to unbelievable levels now most of us are debt slaves and are been used as cash cows sold off to the highest bidders who want to sell us our own water, oil , gas, electrical services and local community services that we are already paying for .I refuse to become such a slave to these gangsters!

Helping you to cope!

Privatizing Europe

Here in Ireland this covert robbery is well under way as the  X premier Ahern and his insider pals study the “For Sale Menu” of Irelands silverware .Rumuors of Irelands forests being flogged off as well as the ESB and the Irish sea ports along with the various national routs for privatized tolls ,the list goes on and on! The citizens of Ireland are been sold as consumers of all sorts of fines ,fees and users of services from water ,phone to medicines .The public are just a resource the government can flog off to collect new stealth taxes . how long will it be before the people have had enough???

Recession and Austerity Good for the Rich

Where is justice in Ireland?

By Thomás O Cléirigh

Questions have to be made about Irish Bank practices during the so called housing boom and you don’t have to be a genius to figure out that the banks took shortcuts that are still been hidden from the unfortunate clients/victims of the corrupt banks .Why should the mortgage holder, who is now nursing massive losses, now have to pay for the ( at best )incompetence  and in so many other cases downright fraudulent practices by the banks and their agents???May I remind everyone not one banker has come before the courts and in fact all of the disgraced directors are enjoying lottery pensions  and we the downtrodden taxpayers are footing the bill for their millionaire lifestyles.

Where is the justice we are guaranteed by our constitution?? if corrupt politicians, union bosses and bankers can exploit the resources of our country and impose austerity on the rest of us?

The bailout of the Irish media sector (update)

NAMA Wine Lake

They say a week is a long time in politics; well certainly, two months can be an eternity in media. Just over two months ago, there was a blogpost on here examining the finances of media companies operating in the State and suggesting that they would need an imminent bailout.

Since then, the Thomas Crosbie group has passed through a pre-pack receivership and the future of the Sunday Business Post, now in examinership, remains uncertain as it seeks new investors. The logical tie-up between the SBP and the Irish Times – which doesn’t have a Sunday edition – looked inevitable but this weekend, Tom Lyons is reporting that the Irish Times investment bid might be doomed with its partner, Landmark Enterprises going cool on the enterprise. Minister for Finance Michael Noonan refused to tell us how much had been written off in the receivership/examinership but it was reported that AIB…
