New unemployment stats

Has wrote an excellent report on the latest unemployment statistics which clearly shows the Governments figures and expectations to be flawed to say the least

The number of people signing on to the Live Register rose by 6,600 in May, the Central Statistics Office said, with the unemployment rate rising to 13.7 per cent.

The latest increase brings the seasonally adjusted total number of people receiving unemployment benefits to 439,100. The Live Register includes people who work part-time, and seasonal and casual workers entitled to Jobseekers Allowance or Jobseekers Benefit.

Observation Constantin!

There are approx 45,000 to 65,000 previously self employed, that are now unemployed but do not receive any unemployment benefits.

 As far as I know only those that are in receipt of benefits are classified as unemployed, and thus these people do not appear to be included in the statistics.
